Exciting news, dear readers.

Your Urban Geographer is moving to the Toronto Islands!

The Toronto Islands are a small archipelago that protect Toronto’s harbour from the wide open Lake Ontario. They are a geographically fascinating place: an ever changing sandbar that has carried temporary uses through its history; a semi-isolated wilderness at the foot of Toronto’s electrified core of glass and steel.

For the next three months I will be participating in a pilot work exchange program at Artscape Gibraltar Point, where problem-solver/artist Chris Foster and I will engage in a number of projects to revive and re-imagine the space as we de-clutter, paint, build and reorganize.

The work exchange provides a place to sleep, as well as studio. As we get into the depths of winter, I am excited to get into a quiet winter practice, over looking Lake Ontario and having the time and space to work on a number of exciting projects. I look forward to sharing my urban Island observations with you.
